Tech Guru Steve Dotto Helps Local Entrepreneurs Cash In On Canadian YouTube Craze
By Kristin van Vloten, May 1, 2014
The Connect Now Network’s upcoming Summer Social Media Summit has been generating tremendous excitement among Fraser Valley business owners since organizers announced that Steve Dotto, ‘Canada’s High-Tech Spokesman’, would deliver its keynote address. Dotto will join ‘Marketing Motivator’ Jennifer Henzcel, Google+ expert Emily Chow, and Instagram expert Nate Henzcel to deliver a unique seminar designed to get business owners up to speed on the latest Internet marketing and social media opportunities.
Over 60% of small Canadian businesses are operating without a website, despite the fact that Canadians are the heaviest Internet users in the world. When the Harvard Business Review surveyed 2,100 companies about their social media use, only 12% felt they were using it effectively. The Summer Social Media Summit is an attempt to address the gap between consumer trends and business practice that is concerning many observers of the Canadian economy.
Steve Dotto brings tremendous value to the programme as the former host and producer of Dotto Tech, a technology-based television show that entertained and educated an audience of 20 million viewers per year. Dotto is slated to share what he has learned about utilizing the power of Youtube for promoting business. His current mission to build a Youtube channel of 100,000 subscribers by the end of the year should be of particular interest to Canadian entrepreneurs. Per capita, Canadians are the Number 1 consumers of Youtube in the world, prompting Chris O’Neill, Canada’s country director for Google, to recently comment to The Canadian Press that “it’s just absolutely crazy […] how passionate Canadians are about YouTube.”
Summer Social Media Summit will be held at the Sandman Hotel at 32720 Simon Ave, in Abbotsford, from 1-6 pm. A 6-8 pm ‘Mix and Mingle’ at the neighbouring Moxie’s restaurant will follow. I am a wearer of many hats, with a passion to help others both personally and professionally. I am a Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy® and Hypnotherapy, a mom of two beautiful children, and the lucky wife to my incredible business partner. My husband and I own Chewie Media Inc., a Digital Marketing Agency specializing in custom website design and development and SEO. We offer all inclusive packages to our clients, because we understand that people should focus on what they're good at and we take over the technical side of things. We’re in the industry of creating online experiences that provide a solid foundation for your business to reach its’ next set of goals. We got into websites because when the technical side is stripped away, it’s about crafting a story and an image of a company. The internet is the great equalizer for small businesses – you can appear as large and capable as you want to be, or shrink down to a bespoke single-worker e-commerce shop. You get to decide who you want to be online – and we love helping take you there. We also own and operate Connect Now Business Network, currently based in the Lower Mainland and expanding beyond that soon. We are all about Community, Growth, Integrity, Openness and Transparency. Our goal is to help other businesses grow in a supportive environment - at the core, it is a business networking group but the relationships that come of it turn this network into so much more. What we ultimately get out of this industry - any industry - is what we put into it. That’s why our websites last longer between redesigns than industry standard. That's why the people in our networking circle form such powerful bonds with each other, and are there to support one another in our growing businesses. We care, and we put our all into everything we do.
